My name is Jozsef KARPATI and I'm resident in Hungary, Europe. I'm a lawyer-economist working for the statistics office of the country and an enthusiast of old cars, as a hobby.
I purchased a 1977 Mercedes-Benz 450 SLC from a dealer in New Jersey on Ebay this May, and the car is now in Hungary under restoration. It will look very nice after we finish our work, and it will be a regular participant at events of the local Mercedes dealership in my home city, called Kecskemet.
Due to the documents I received with the car, the original, first owner was a resident in Narberth, PA. His name was David B. Einstein and used to live in 1977 on Ardleigh road.
I think that owning an old car and keeping it in a good condition for introducing a piece of motorization history is about far more than repairing machinery. It's about owning and pampering a piece of history, where documentation is an important "collector activity". I would be greatful if I could recover the history of this car. Since I haven't found any information on the Internet about this person, I'm looking for a contact with the original owner, if he's still alive or any of his relatives, who could tell me more, supply maybe some old family photos with the car and so on. This could serve as a background documentation for this classical car.
I think that the blog could serve as a way of announcement for persons who may be involved. I would be thankful if you could provide me some help in finding the right person by publishing my letter on Narblog or in any other way. As already stated, my interest is purely private for my hobby.
I also attach a photo of the car.
I'm waiting for your reply and I'm sending you plus all Narberth residents my very best wishes from the other side of the world.
Sincerely yours,
Jozsef KARPATI

I've explained to Jozsef that Ardleigh Rd is, considered by us, to be Penn Valley. Still, perhaps a local reader knows what has become of him?
